Our Volunteers

Tom and Sandy Bowser started Fishbone Ministries. Their children are Jacob, Kyrstin, Allyson, and Emylia. Since the beginning, their family has been involved in growing and supporting the ministry in many aspects. Tom works on connecting the ministry to the community and churches surrounding. He also coordinates youth mission trips to come in to Butler during the summer. Sandy spends every Thursday night teaching the 3rd-6th graders as well as keeping the Brown House clean and comfortable. Their love for the children and families is evident among the community.

Abby and Alyssa spend every Thursday cooking a delicious meal for our kids. These professional bakery workers dedicate their talents and love to the kids. And of course the kids love them! (Especially when dessert comes around).

David and Ally Gould work together in volunteering their time to the kids of Fishbone. They run the Tuesday night ministry for the youth of the community. They also live right in the community in an effort to reach out more effectively and be a constant presence to the families we work with.

John Wallace was one of our first Fishbone kids. He lives right down the street from the Brown House and he interacts directly with the community on a constant basis. Now John spends Thursday nights teaching the teens and he also focuses on connecting with the youth boys.

Gabbi Swartzlander and Elizabeth Haughey are two of our volunteers that come every Thursday to help with whatever needs done. They both spend time connecting with the kids and teens. The kids love them and are loved by them.

Trish Canedy is our longest volunteer who spends her Thursdays at Fishbone They love playing with her long hair and giving her hugs. Trish is always there to help out when help is needed. She also contributes her artistic abilities to different projects around the Brown House.

Michelle Iman spends her Thursday evenings teaching the preschool-2nd graders at Fishbone. She also prints our t-shirts and volunteers her help around the house and the ministry. Michelle provides us with lesson plans and fun ways to teach the kids.

Nathan and Tammy Karenbauer come every week to love the kids and help wherever help is needed. Nathan is a huge help in the recent constructions taking place in the house. They spend much of their time connecting with the children in and outside of Fishbone.

Zeke comes every week to spend time with the kids. He loves and plays with them and helps around wherever help is needed. The kids think he is awesome they enjoy him jumping in and being a part of their fun and games.
